    PTA BOOK DRIVE & GIVE AWAY to CELEBRATE DR. SEUSS!
    Book Drive
    Thanks so much to the families who have donated books so far. Some have gone above and beyond to purchase new books for the drive. It is exciting to see the Brandon community celebrate reading so generously!
    We are still accepting donations. We will gladly accept gently loved books until Wednesday, February 26th.
    Dr. Seuss Day!
    Brandon School will celebrate Dr. Seuss this Friday, February 28th. There will be guest readers and extra reading opportunities throughout the day. Your child is encouraged to wear pajamas and bring books from home. (Children are still expected to have suitable and safe shoes for school.) Please be sure to have a special bag for books and/or your child’s name in each book from home.
    Book Give Away
    It is great to have volunteers to help children choose books and to help keep the books organized. It will also be great to have volunteers to help box up books at the end of the Give Away. Please contact Jennifer Adams 1adams1212@gmail.com if you would like to help.
    The Book Give Away will take place on Friday, February 28th.

    PTA NOMINATIONS
    Volunteers are needed for the 2014-2015 PTA. Please consider nominating yourself for a position. A flyer listing available positions was sent home in Friday Folders and should be returned to the office by Friday, February 28th. If you have questions, please contact Lena Wheeler at wheeler.lena@yahoo.com. Remember volunteering is important to your child’s education and overall school experience!

    BRANDON KINDERGARTEN INFORMATION NIGHT – THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 27th from 6:30-7:30 pm in the MPR
    Brandon Kindergarten Information Night is open to all parents of children beginning Kindergarten in August 2014. Enrollment packets will be available during the evening as well as in the school office. Please bring proof of residency documents so you can enroll that evening.

    AFTER SCHOOL MOVIES
    PTA-sponsored After School Movies are offered during Spring Parent-Teacher conference days, March 10th-March 13th. The movies will run from 1:15-3:00 pm each day. The movies are $3 per day and include popcorn and water.
    Adult supervision ends at 3:15 pm and any child who is not picked up by then will be escorted to the office.
    Kindergartners will be escorted from their playground to the MPR at 1:10 pm and will need a permission slip for each day. Permission slips will be in the Friday Folders or with the Kindergarten teachers.

    VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR AFTER SCHOOL MOVIES
    Volunteers are needed to staff the after school movies during conferences! Please lend a hand and sign-up for a 2 hour shift from Noon-2:00 pm or 2:00-4:00 pm.

    “LUCK O’ THE ISLANDERS” CASINO NIGHT & AUCTION – FRIDAY, MARCH 14th
    This fun parents’ night out is on Friday, March 14th from 6:00-11:00 pm at the Greek Orthodox Church in Santa Barbara.
    The St. Patrick’s themed party includes dinner, drinks, dessert, casino tables, and a silent auction. Tickets are $35/person or $60 /couple. ($40/person at the door)
    $1 raffle tickets also for sale – Grand Prize: 4 Disneyland Park-Hopper Tickets.
    Tickets on sale March 3rd-March 14th before and after school – watch for the sales tables in front of Brandon.
    Volunteers Needed:
    Volunteers are needed to help with ticket sales between March 3rd-March 14th. Shifts are only 30 minutes each, before and after school. Please contact Lena Wheeler wheeler.lena@yahoo.com if you are interested in working a shift.

    TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN (TK) INFORMATION NIGHT – MONDAY, MARCH 3rd from 5:30-6:30 pm at DISTRICT OFFICE
    A Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Parent Information Night will be held Monday, March 3rd from 5:30-6:30 pm at the District Office Board Room (401 N. Fairview Avenue). Children who turn 5 years old between September 2nd and December 2nd, 2014 are eligible for TK. Please attend if you would like more information about our district’s program.
