    Brandon PTA announcements for the week March 3, 2014

    “LUCK O’ THE ISLANDERS” CASINO NIGHT & AUCTION – FRIDAY, MARCH 14th 6:00-11:00 pm
    Don’t miss this adults-only party benefitting Brandon. We have fabulous silent auction items from local businesses and Las Vegas-like gambling tables. Event tickets ($35/person, $60/couple, $40/person at door) include dinner, drinks, dessert, and $100 casino money. We also have $1 raffle tickets with a grand prize of 4 Disneyland park-hopper passes!
    Buy your tickets this week and next week before and after school.
    Volunteers Needed:
    ***Please consider helping with ticket sales between March 3rd-March 14th. Shifts are only 30 minutes each, before and after school. Even helping one time is appreciated! Emailwheeler.lena@yahoo.com if you are interested in working a shift.

     

    AFTER SCHOOL MOVIES
    PTA-sponsored After School Movies will be offered during Spring Parent-Teacher conference days, March 10th-March 13th. The movies will run from 1:15-3:00 pm each day. The movies are $3 per day and include popcorn and water.
    Adult supervision ends at 3:15 pm and any child who is not picked up by then will be escorted to the office.
    Kindergartners will be escorted from their playground to the MPR at 1:10 pm and will need a permission slip for each day. Permission slips will be in the Friday Folders or with the Kindergarten teachers.

    VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR AFTER SCHOOL MOVIES
    Volunteers are needed to staff the after school movies during conferences! Please lend a hand and sign-up for a 2 hour shift from Noon-2:00 pm or 2:00-4:00 pm!

    TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN (TK) INFORMATION NIGHT – MONDAY, MARCH 3rd from 5:30-6:30 pm at DISTRICT OFFICE
    A Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Parent Information Night will be held this Monday, March 3rd from 5:30-6:30 pm at the District Office Board Room (401 N. Fairview Avenue). Children who turn 5 years old between September 2nd and December 2nd, 2014 are eligible for TK. Please attend if you would like more information about our district’s program.
    TK enrollment packets are available in the front office.

    KINDERGARTEN ENROLLMENT
    Kindergarten enrollment has begun.  If you are a new kindergarten family, please pick up an enrollment packet in the office and sign-up for a kindergarten screening time.

    HELMET DISTRIBUTION & FITTING EVENT – THURSDAY, MARCH 13th from 1:00-2:00 pm
    A Helmet Distribution and Fitting Event will held on Thursday, March 13th from 1:00-2:00 pm by the front office. Buy a new helmet for $10 or bring in your old helmet to be fitted properly. Look for the permission slips in the Friday Folders. Questions? Contact Ruth McGolpin at gopar1@cox.net

    Information regarding Brandon Elementary School’s after-school enrichment classes is provided as a service to families of students at Brandon Elementary School. The Brandon PTA is neither sponsoring nor endorsing the enrichment classes or the agencies/businesses providing the classes.

    BRANDON SCHOOL TRACK TEAM
    All interested 3rd-6th grade students are invited to join the Brandon Track Team! To participate return the bottom portion of the permission slip with a teacher AND guardian’s signature on or before the first practice on Friday, March 21st at 3:00 pm. (Permission slips are attached to this email and in Friday Folders.) There is no charge to participate.
    Practices: There will be 6 after-school practices, from 3-4 pm, on Fridays: 3/21, 4/4, 4/11, 4/18, 4/25, and 5/2. If your child rides the bus, please arrange alternate transportation home on those days. Your child must wear comfortable running shoes to practice or will not be allowed to practice. There will be an opportunity to purchase a Brandon Track Team T-Shirt at the first practice to wear to track meets.
    Meets: Meets are optional and will require registration fees. You may participate in the track team without attending meets. Meets are held on Sundays, transportation to and from meets will not be provided.
    Coaches: Practices are organized and led by Brandon teachers and community volunteers.
